My name is Tara Gray, and I was born and raised in California. I’ve spent most of my time in the city of Sacramento working on my hobbies including sewing, crafting, going to music festivals, and movies.
I was introduced to Tate + Zoey by a friend from high school who thought it would be a good fit for me. I was hesitant at first because I thought it might conflict with my handmade fashion accessory business which is how I first discovered my entrepreneurial side. During this time, I was also having medical issues which at one point I thought was a stroke. My motor skills were diminished, and I knew something wasn't right. I was later diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. After this diagnosis, I thought about the business opportunity a little deeper and realized it would be a good way to supplement my business by having more options when I worked vendor events. Tate + Zoey came into my life at the perfect time because it reduced my stress of having to make everything for my additional business. I run an Etsy shop for my handmade business and it’s a lot of extra work to be online. Having Tate + Zoey maintaining the website and taking care of shipping is a huge deal.
When I joined Tate + Zoey, I joined under my sponsor, Kim. The best thing I have learned from her is what a real leader looks like. She’s always supportive, super creative, positive, leads me in the right direction for answers, and all around a genuine person.
This business has allowed me to get more creative on social media and reach out of my comfort zone. Although I frequently posted photos, I never did live videos on social media before Tate + Zoey, staying in my own introverted world. Since I started this business, I have become way more comfortable in front of the camera after forcing myself to just get it done. I have learned the importance of really connecting with my audience and customers by talking to them directly.
If you’re thinking about starting your own business with Tate + Zoey, the one piece of advice I can give you is to stop overthinking it. You can work at your own pace, there's always a ton of support, you’ll make some extra income and have fun doing it.
My favorite things to do in my free time are travel, dine out at a new restaurant, and watch movies.
If money was no object, I would be traveling more.
My favorite Tate + Zoey product is the Tropic Like It’s Hot Earrings.
